The Los Angeles Angels have signed Mike Trout to a one-year, $1 million deal.

It's the largest pre-arbitration contract for a player, surpassing a record shared by Ryan Howard, who got $900,000 from the Philadelphia Phillies in 2007.

"It's a landmark to do a $1 million with a two-plus player," Jerry Dipoto said. "I think it's fitting and Mike's earned that and we're glad to provide that for him."

Trout also was pleased about the deal, saying, "It feels good."

Negotiations continue between the Angels and Trout, 22, on a multiyear contract.

The Yankees have agreed to terms with reliever Andrew Bailey on a minor-league deal, according to a source.

Bailey is recovering from shoulder surgery, and as a result, the contract starts on minor-league deal, according to an ESPN.com report on Saturday.

The Orioles have agreed to a one-year, $8M contract with free agent Nelson Cruz, ESPN and multiple media outlets are reporting.

A source told ESPNdeportes.com that Cruz's deal also includes $750,000 in incentives.

The Boston Red Sox have agreed to sign Chris Capuano to a Minor League contract with an invitation to Spring Training, according to a source.

The 35-year-old has spent all nine of his major league seasons in the National League, the past two with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Atlanta Braves continue to sign their young players to extensions.

Andrelton Simmons has signed a new seven-year deal with Atlanta reportedly worth $58 million.

The Braves have recently signed Freddie Freeman, Jason Heyward, Craig Kimbrel and Julio Teheran to extensions.

Simmons, 24, is widely considered to be baseball's best defensive shortstop. He would have been eligible for salary arbitration next week.

The San Francisco Giants have avoided arbitration with Brandon Belt by agreeing to a one-year, $2.9 million deal.

An arbitration hearing had been scheduled for early Wednesday. Belt was seeking $3.6 million and the Giants offered $2.05 million.

Belt, 25, batted .289 with 17 home runs and 67 RBIs in 150 games last season as San Francisco missed the playoffs a year after winning the World Series.

The Cleveland Indians have agreed to a one-year, $9.7 million deal with Justin Masterson, avoiding arbitration.

The agreement is $162,500 below midpoint of the $11.8 million he had asked for and the $8.05 million Cleveland had offered when players and teams swapped figures last month.

Masterson led the Indians in wins last year when he went 14-10 with a 3.45 ERA. He can earn additional award bonuses as part of the deal.

The Baltimore Orioles have agreed to a four-year, $48 million deal with Ubaldo Jimenez, according to a source.

The deal is pending a physical.

Jimenez went 13-9 with a 3.30 ERA in 32 starts for the Cleveland Indians last season. He turned down a $14.1 million qualifying offer from the Indians.

The Cleveland Indians have signed Aaron Harang to a Minor League contract.

The right-hander will earn $1 million if he makes the club.

Harang, who will be 36 in May, pitched 143 1/3 innings for the Seattle Mariners and New York Mets in 2013, posting a 5.40 ERA.

The Boston Red Sox have signed Francisco Cordero to a Minor League deal.

Cordero last appeared in the Major Leagues with the Houston Astros in 2012.

If he makes the team, the right-hander would earn $1 million.
